Avery Polster
Teaching Artist
Avery Polster is an interdisciplinary Los Angeles based performance and movement artist from Phoenix, Arizona. He is versed in post-modern and contemporary movement and uses improvisation, performance, and pedestrian vocabularies to layer surreal and ordinary images. Drawn to Gaga movement language, he has taken classes all over LA and has trained along with briefly doing administrative work with Ate9. Avery dances to practice deconstructing and wearing the various shells of his constructed image and identities to better understand himself. Engaged in the community he has worked with Nue/box and has most recently presented and performed works at the Getty Villa, Phoenix art museum, and DISCORIOT. He graduated from Arizona State University in 2021 with a BFA in Dance and is excited to use movement as a way to build community and self empowerment.
