
G’bari Gilliam
Teaching Artist
G’bari Gilliam, a.k.a. “GQ”, grew up in Berkeley, CA. He began dancing in the Bay Area at the age of 13. His first style of dance was West African dance. But in high school he took in an interest in Hip-hop dance and began choreographing dances for Berkeley High School’s annual pep rallies. During the summer of his Junior Year in High school, he participated in the UCLA Dance/ Theatre Intensive, where he was introduced to Jackie Lopez and Leigh Foaad. He later attended UCLA and received his degree in Dance in June of 2016. G’bari has been a member of Versa-Style Dance Company since June 2014. Starting with Versa-Style Next Generation then later being promoted to Versa-Style’s Core Company in September 2014. G’bari has knowledge of many styles of dance such as hip-hop, house, whacking, West African, ballet, contemporary and more.
