
Jordyn Wheeler-Lewis
Teaching Artist
Jordyn Wheeler-Lewis began her training at age eight in Los Angeles, California. She deepened her studies at Los Angeles County High School for the Performing Art (LACHSA) where she studied core dance techniques in ballet, modern, and jazz dance which inspired her to continue her artistic career. Jordyn attended The University of The Arts (UArts) in Philadelphia, PA., and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in dance education. During this time Jordyn taught dance at Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA), Atria Senior Center, and students at Messiah dance works. In 2016, Jordyn joined Viver Brasil Dance Company an LA-based Afro-Brazilian dance company. In addition to being a core company dance member, Jordyn is an educator and teaches Afro Brazilian dance for the company. She has performed in sold-out productions such as Sergio Mendez and Brazil 66’ at the Hollywood Bowl, Big World Fun! At the Ford Theatre, Disney’s Viva Navidad production, and more. Jordyn is also an instructor with Conga Kids LA teaching in-school partnered ballroom dance styles. Jordyn is a recipient of the 2014 The Nadia Chilkousky Nahumch Award for creativity and dance making. Jordyn, has years’ worth of training in Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Contemporary, Afro-Brazilian, and African dance and hopes to share all she has learned.
