Teaching Artist
Chelsea Asman has been a Teaching Artist with EDLA! since 2014. She earned her BFA in dance performance from Chapman University and is a graduate of the MFA in dance program at University of California, Irvine. As a graduate student she had the privilege of working as the teaching assistant for Donald McKayle’s Etude Ensemble as well as teaching courses in jazz, modern, and social dance. Chelsea currently teaches Jazz and Yoga at Glendale Community College as well as Yoga, Social Dance, Hip-hop, Kinesiology, and Jazz at California State University Dominguez Hills. She has also taught at Loyola Marymount University and Fullerton College. Chelsea has performed with Los Angeles based dance companies such as: Diavolo Dance Theatre’s education company, Method Contemporary Dance Company, Invertigo Dance Theatre, Multiplex Dance, Kairos Dance Company, Jess Harper and Dancers, and Jay Bartley. Her work “Primed” was shown at the HHII Dance Festival in Santa Barbara, CA presented by Nebula Dance Lab in 2019. Chelsea sits on the Equity, Diversity, Access, and Inclusion Committee for EDLA! and is the coordinator for the Mentor Match program.
